Something in the Wind
"Dear Sally: Although I had to leave quite a while sooner than you, I am sorry to see you go as well. You were one of my first friends around here, one of the first to believe in my ability to change for the better, one of the first I trusted, one of the first who protected me (and fed me scary Halloween Town soups), and a such, you are and always will be a very special friend. Take care on your adventures out there, and I wish you only the best! Your friend, Prince Hans."

Sally looked up from the letter, tearfully drying her eyes with a handkerchief as she looked over her packed bags. Yes, it was more than time for her to leave. She couldn’t, after all, explore the world by sitting on her laurels forever. She let out another quiet sob before frying her eyes once more.

“I certainly will Hans”, she swore to herself, clutching the letter to her chest. “I will and I certainly hope wherever you are, whatever you’re doing, you will remember to take care of yourself and that you can always be good and kind and friendly if you so choose. I will never forget you, any of you.” With that, she finished packing her bags, readying herself for the long journey ahead.

OOC: Dropping Sally

Hey guys, this is just an addendum to the ask I sent coz I couldn’t possibly write everything in one ask. I can honestly say that you guys are absolutely amazing, wonderful friends and I could never have asked for a better introduction to roleplaying or a roleplaying community. You guys have kinda been like a family to me and I’d consider quite a few of you close friends and I thank you so much for that. You’re seriously one of the kindest, friendliest most amazing groups I’ve ever encountered and maybe one day I’ll be able to come back but you guys deserve someone more present and active to play Sally, and I haven’t been shaping up. I love you all, and I hope you always remember how wonderful you all are. If anyone wants to keep in contact, I still have my personal blog @writing-apprentice and I have a few of you on facebook and snapchat. Take care of yourselves, stay wonderful and I’m sure I’ll talk to you again <3

Finally in Halloween Town || Ratigan & Sally

professor-ratigan-supreme-ruler:

“I AM FAIRLY CERTAIN THE HALLOWEEN DOOR SHOULD BE HERE! TURN LEFT ONCE, THEN RIGHT THREE TIMES AND THEN GO STRAIGHT–I FOLLOWED THOSE DIRECTIONS PERFECTLY!”

Growling, Ratigan crumpled the map and the instructions Sally gave in how to reach Halloween Town. He had written the directions precisely, there was no reason the writing was faulty. It had to be the map!

“Probably outdated,” he grumbled, eyes still ablaze as he grabbed a few pebbles and truculently tossed them aside. It seemed as if he was travelling in circles, not getting closer to a cluster of trees with strange symbols carved on the trunks. Already he was an hour late in meeting Sally, the sky was beginning to darken (meaning less light and harder for him to retrace his steps), and the criminal mastermind sensed he was hopelessly lost.

“Perhaps I should consult the map and the directions again and see if there are any discrepancies. I have no wish to be two hours late in seeing Sally!” Ratigan opened the wrinkled map and direction list as he wandered on, turning right in hopes of maybe returning to his initial location in hopes of trying to follow the instructions again. As he turned and went ahead for a bit, he paused, stopping to peer at a section of the map more closely. He didn’t notice before but there was a small, almost inscrutable right pathway that lead straight to the cluster of trees Sally had circled and said that was the door of Halloween Town lied? Was he suppose to turn right four times instead of three?

“Who ever created this inaccurate map should be tossed into the River Thames with cement shoes!” Just as the professor put the map away for a second time, he halted his movements instantly, eyes wide and mouth agape with incredulity.

There they were, those inexplicably decorated trees, doors to other worlds and towns that one would only dream of. A pumpkin with a wide, devious grin beckoned him and Ratigan smirked broadly, his face almost echoing the jack o’lantern. No more aimless trekking today! He could finally get in, see Sally once more, and finally visit her hometown that she mentioned so often. Thankfully, him being a talking mouse wouldn’t be much of an issue with the residents.

Cackling, he opened the Halloween Town door, feeling himself getting tugged towards the entrance while hovering near the edge of the door frame. Without further delay, the criminal mastermind jumped right on in and found himself sliding down one extremely wide and lengthy tunnel.

To say Sally was mildly worried about Ratigan was maybe a bit of an understatement. Her friend was an hour late, and she was frowning, her foot tapping lightly as she waited. Did she get the time wrong? Was it the wrong day? Had she given him the wrong map?

With a sigh, she stood, pacing around the trees where those that fell trough the doors normally landed. It was only by the edge of town, close enough to the graveyard that she had spent some time gathering herbs. Still, the lack of presence of her friend was rather worrying.

She was so busy pacing that she almost didn’t notice the appearance of Ratigan until he was dropped from the portal into the grass. She knelt down to greet him with a smile. “Hello Ratigan, I do hope you didn’t have any trouble getting here. Are you well? Was it a long journey?”

OOC: Starters, anyone?

Heya guys, I don’t actually have any active threads at the moment I think, so I was wondering if anyone maybe wanted to plot at all? Shoot me a message or like this and I’ll send you one =)

Sally shrugged, flashing a friendly smile. “I’m glad you guys know where you’re going, because I certainly don’t.”

Following the others, she was glad to see a flickering light up ahead and hear muffled chatter, letting out a small sigh of relief. She reached out once more to gently scratch behind Ed’s ear as they drew closer.

Ed flinched – and looked up to Sally, grinning.  That was … unexpected?  Not unpleasant, quite the contrary, absolutely the contrary, just unanticipated.  Hopefully, Sally wouldn’t be diverted by his shuddering … and hopefully, Banzai wouldn’t throw another fit.
— No.  No, the contrary again: He should definitely turn around and mope some more.
He intently stared at his friend’s back – would he able to make him look around by his sheer willpower?

Didn’t seem like it – Banzai was too busy being shoved to the side by Shenzi, pushing her back, giggling at her, walking in keeping with her …
Those two stood well with each other.  Things some might be jealous of.  Not Ed, that was; he didn’t see either of them getting scratched behind their ears.
But he did see the campfire only a few metres ahead of them, the campfire, giving off nice, cosy heat …
He spurted ahead, past his friends, and quickly curled up next to the fire.
Nice, cosy heat.

makemineacubsandwich:

Yeah – it’s that way.
Shenzi pointed in … some direction.  Was it northwards, southwards – could she use the moon as a clue?  She knew that the sun rose in the East, set in the West, indicated noon when it was in the South …
No, she couldn’t use the moon for that.  It helped with something else though.
And camp still was in the direction she pointed towards.

Ed frowned for a moment, at himself, and at Sally; why had she stopped?  Because Banzai was sulking because he hadn’t been petted?  It surely wasn’t abstruse of people to think that they would end up lacking one hand after merely approaching him.
… So Banzai was the one who had to be glared at.

— Banzai just didn’t notice, he had already leaped up, followed Shenzi, on the way out of these woods and back to where the others were, away from strange animals, as quick as possible …
Towards the light source over there.  Towards the muffled chatter.

The Warmth Of A Crypt // Young!Flynn and Sally

theoneandonlyflynnrider:

The boy listened perfectly silently, his eyes fixed hopefully on her face. She spoke gently, unlike any adult he’d met. Most of them yelled a lot, and if they went quiet then you knew things would go very bad. Whereas, when this lady spoke softly, it just seemed kind of natural. He liked that about her.

When she’d finished, he grinned at her, flashing surprisingly white teeth. “I don’t know about short bread, I’ve never had it before, but it all sounds much nicer than the stuff we normally got back at the orphanage. Onions are okay, I just won’t eat them raw. Martin did once, he was so hungry, and he said it burned on the way down. He didn’t exactly cry, just screwed his eyes up.”

Sally frowned slightly at that. So onions didn’t make people cry, but if they were raw they burnt your throat? That wasn’t very polite of them, really, but at least she could figure out how to use them now.

“If I can, I’ll try and make you some shortbread, or I’ll see if I have any in my kitchen. And I definitely won’t make you eat a raw onion. I think I’ll make some soup, would you like some pumpkin soup? You can help me make it, if you’d like.” The idea of cooking with someone brought back the memory of cooking with Jack once. She smiled at the memory. Cooking was quite fun, but most things were better with company.

Sally bowed nervously before the imposing Queen, unsure exactly how she got there. Still, she'd heard of dresses sewn out of heads and that did sound rather fascinating. After all, she'd sewn her head on, but she'd never sewn anything out of it. With a polite smile, she spoke. "Hello your majesty, I heard a remarkable tale about dresses you'd had sewn. I was wondering if I might have a look at them?" ((OOC: HELLO AND WELCOME TO DRP))

(Hello! It’s lovely to meet you! :D)

Morrigan looked down at the person standing before her. She’d never had anyone interested in her dresses before…terrified certainly, but not interested. She was intrigued by the girl. If she likes sewing and heads, Morrigan mused, I bet she’s a lovely person.

“Of course my dear!” Morrigan stood suddenly, causing several playing cards to jump backwards in alarm. “I have quite the collection in my attic. Please, come this way and I’ll show you. I’ve never met someone who shares my passion for needlework before!”

raggedy-sally

Morrigan sighed again. “They’re singing about my roses” she explained. “I like red roses. I want them to plant red roses. Is that so hard? Apparently so because they plant white roses EVERY TIME and then they PAINT MY ROSES RED” she stopped and took a couple of breaths to try and calm herself down. She’d need a stiff whiskey after this to steady her nerves again. “They paint my roses so I won’t notice they’re incompetent fools and then they sing about it!”

Morrigan turned and looked Sally directly in the eye. “You tell me Sally. Am I being unreasonable? Is it wrong of me to want red roses that are actually red and not just dripping with red paint?”

Sally frowned at the idea. Anyone who knew simple gardening would know that it was not at all healthy for the poor plants to try and paint them. She shook her head at the Queen’s question.

“Why wouldn’t they just plant red roses? It would take less work and the plants would live longer. Painting those plants can’t be healthy. I never paint any of the flowers in my garden at home, and I think they live longer for it, after all.”

Banzai stealthily nodded to Sally’s last statement: She indeed sucked explaining these circumstances – he at least didn’t really understand these conditions of creating a new life.
Whatever”, he grouched, glancing at Ed who was bearing a very content expression, as if he was in a sort of trance …
Fortunately enough, Ed didn’t see his friend’s face, his glimpses, the envious staring, otherwise he would have gotten everything out of him being caressed, him being more trustful than Banzai, seemingly more popular than his friend …

Well, I for one think it’s interesting”, Shenzi grinned, nudging Banzai in passing.  _He_ was the one who wanted to know more about Sally’s environment and her apparent ‘creation’, and now he was easy to just shrug it off.
— In moments like these, Shenzi not rarely wished companions who got along easier with strangers – or just a more upbeat replacement for Banzai.
Then again, sometimes, having a griper as a friend in fact was of use, a griper who often didn’t care about his surroundings, a griper who merely batted a weary eye to a source of noise … like this rustling in the bushes …
Uhum”, she harrumphed, unobtrusively inching closer to Banzai, “what do you guys think of going back to, you know, back to the camp again?  This place is starting to give me the creeps.

Banzai opened his eyes widely, stared at Shenzi, anxiously looked around – so much about ‘a griper who merely batted a weary eye to a source of noise’.
It’s a go.

Sally nodded, withdrawing her hand from Ed’s ear. “That’s probably a good idea. I’m not entirely sure that we can stay safe out here for too long, especially if that bear comes back!”

She looked around the forest path, a small frown creasing her forehead. “Do you guys remember which way it is back to camp?”

"see you at camp!"

30. Muse A’s entire cabin dared them to go out and kiss Muse B. Can Muse A do it?

To say Ratigan was displeased was an understatement. In fact, he was sorely tempted to blow up his entire cabin and let the fools burn in their own crispy beds, howling in absolute pain. However, stabbing or slashing them with various sharp objects had a certain appeal as well. Regardless, he would deal with those hooligans later, once he finished with their ridiculous dare.

The criminal mastermind didn’t understand why they thought it would be funny to have him go and kiss Sally, acting like it was some grand joke and he should be embarrassed to do so. Since they didn’t use their brains, they had no way of knowing Ratigan knew Sally and considered one of his very few (if not only) friends so the situation wouldn’t be as awkward as his cabin anticipated. Kissing her was a juvenile dare on their part and while he could simply refuse their stupid prank, Ratigan never back  down from a challenge, especially a silly but harmless dare.

At least finding Sally was no trouble, he could easily spot in her in a crowd, long, flaming red hair and all. She was by herself, in middle of doing something he wasn’t quite familiar with. Was she dissecting plants? Or studying them? Or making chemicals? It was hard to say.

“It’s been a while, my dear Sally,” he proclaimed in greeting, doffing his hat to her. “How have you been?”

The quick, chaste kissed took him by surprise, at first, but soon remembered how use he was to Sally’s constant endearments, unexpected or not. While he always tried to be irked with the aforementioned gestures, the professor couldn’t hold up the pretense within himself for long and continued to enjoy Sally’s attention. It was always preferable then being called a “rat” or being spat upon in his younger years.

“You’re welcome, my dear. After all, I only speak the truth about you.” he replied, grinning from ear to ear before setting out what his cabin compelled him to do. Smooth as ever, he delicately kissed her pinkie in reply and ended off with a bow. “From what I’ve heard, that is what friends are for, correct?”

Sally let out a small laugh, smiling down at her small friend. “Indeed they are. That and getting into mischief together, but I think it’s a bit late in the day for that, wouldn’t you say?”

She flashed the rat a playful smile, before moving her hand so he could jump onto her shoulder if he so wished. “Want to head to the mess hall and grab something to eat? Sometimes they have berries and fruits from plants, and they don’t even kill you if you eat them!”

He definitely needed to visit Sally’s hometown and take a gander at some of these peculiar vegetation. Perhaps he could learn to grow one and send it over to Basil in hopes the parlous plant might gobble his nemesis up quickly and kill the detective instantly. Such an idea created a lovely vision in Ratigan’s mind as he scurried up Sally’s shoulders.

“Remind to come visit your town sometime,” he remarked with a devious smile as they together headed towards the mess hall.
